Elections Committee – Jim Lambert
Results for BOV Representative are Michael Kennedy with 51 out of 60. Faculty Senate bylaws allow for alternates which will be
Eve Danziger with 23 and Sue Saliba with 17.
The committee continues to accept candidates for Chair Elect and EXCO At large seats (2).

April meeting will be voting on those.

AAC – Brian Wright
Approved Ph.D. in Kinesiology. They had a concentration in Education prior. Aaron motioned to put this vote on the agenda for the full senate meeting in February, Jim Lambert seconded. All approve.

Six concentrations in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies  under the umbrella of Public Safety Masters that were unanimously approved by the Committee.

New Business
Committee Chair updates:
Athletic Council - Jim Lambert gave an update. Topics discussed were UVA athletes’ strong grades during COVID, lawsuits pending with NCAA by other schools, and how NILs are changing college athletics. Carla Williams will attend the April or May faculty senate meeting.

House Bill 1467 – Michael Kennedy
Clarifies the language by which each university has a faculty representative on the Board of Visitors of their school, and that the Board would accept who the faculty decided to send. The faculty representative would be a nonvoting member.

Senate Opinion Survey Results - Aaron Bloomfield
The bylaws currently state that Faculty Senate represents all faculty, but they do not. The survey asked which additional groups should be covered by Faculty Senate.

Sent survey to all senators to measure how much interest there was in adding additional groups to the Faculty Senate.  He received 30 responses.  On a scale from one to five, Administrative & Professional received a 3.5, non-schoolers received the highest score and raising the size of faculty senate to 83 was the highest rated solution. These changes would also cause Section III (Eligibility) and Section IV.B. (Membership) of the bylaws to be rewritten. Purpose has to change too because people are being added that do not have academic functions.

Aaron motioned to bring this issue to the floor of the senate next Friday, February 16. Second from Jim Lambert. All in favor.  Motion passes.

Motion to Adjourn: Jim Lambert
Second: Michelle Kisliuk
