Call to Order: This is an emergency meeting of the Executive Council of the University Faculty Senate.
Quorum is established. Jim Savage motioned to approve the meeting. Brian Wright seconded. Fourteen yes, zero no, and one abstention.
Two draft resolutions were presented to the group. EXCO members discussed their merits and worked to create a new resolution below.
EXCO Resolution on the Resignation of President Ryan
Whereas the Faculty delivers the mission of UVA by creating knowledge through research and scholarship, disseminating this knowledge through teaching and publication, and helping the world use this knowledge to be better;

Whereas in an April 28 resolution the Faculty Senate affirmed its support of President Ryan’s leadership and vision; and

Whereas the UVA Board of Visitors’ primary duty is to the Commonwealth of Virginia;

Be it resolved that the UVA Faculty Senate calls on the Board of Visitors to join the Faculty Senate in condemning the demands of the US Department of Justice that led to the resignation of President Ryan, and
-
Be it resolved that the Faculty Senate calls on the Board of Visitors to meet with the Faculty Senate by July 14 to clarify the circumstances and negotiations that led to the resignation of President Ryan.
